Fishing

The three coarse fishing lakes at Butters Wood are stocked with mirror, common and crutian carp, chub, perch, roach, and tench.

Rules of fishing

  • Barbless hooks only
  • No floating baits
  • No nut baits/hemp/tares
  • No litter, Use the bins provided
  • Unhooking mats must be used at all times
  • Landing nets must be used at all a times
  • No keep nets, Except in the tench pond
  • No children under 14 without an adult

Ticket prices for all ponds

  • £5.00 per first rod per day
  • £1.00 per second/ third rods per day
  • Maximum 3 rods per person
  • £3.00 senior citizens / disabled

Please do not be offended if we ask to see your hook, this is for the well-being of the fish. Unhooking mats and landing nets can be rented
Please put all litter in the bins provided

FAQ

  • Are keep nets allowed? Only in the Tench pond.

 

  • Can we bring our own landing nets and unhooking mats or do you provide these? Yes you can bring your, or you can hire them for the day @ £1.50 for the unhooking mat, and £2.50 for the landing net. A small deposit will be required.

 

  • Are there any bait bans? Yes there is on tiger nuts, blood worm and hemp and tare’s and no floating baits.


  • Is it barbless hooks only? Yes it is.

 

  • What baits seem to work best, luncheon meat, sweet corn, white chocolate, Strawberry, scopex and pineapple seem to be good all year round.

 

  • Can we use ground bait in feeders? Yes you can.

 

  • Is there a minimum main line pound required? i.e. 8lbs it all depends on what you want to fish for, we ask people to use the gear for what they want to catch( sometimes it doesn’t work like that).
